STAY COOL for Grandkids is a San Diego-based organization working to encourage grandparents and other seniors to take action against global warming. Themissionof STAY COOL is to speak for those too young to have a voice regarding climate policies: our children and grandchildren.  STAY COOL harnesses the power of elders through education and advocacy for action on climate change issues in the San Diego region.Membership is freeand open to anyone interested in protecting future generations from the dangers of global warming.

<h3><strong>STAY COOL for Grandkids Zoom Webinar</strong></h3><h3><strong>“Landscapes for Life: Nature-based Solutions for a Changing Climate”</strong></h3><h3><strong>Thursday, May 26 – 6:30 PM</strong></h3><h3>Planners and environmental experts have highlighted the many benefits of “nature-based” solutions that will both reduce GHG emissions and make our water infrastructure more resilient to the impacts of climate change.  In this webinar we will hear from three experts about nature-based solutions such as community gardens, backyard gardens, and water harvesting systems, and how they can help us do our part at both a community scale and a neighborhood scale.</h3><h3></h3><h3><strong>About our speakers</strong></h3><h3><strong>Brook Sarson, Co-owner and CEO, CatchingH2O</strong></h3><h3>Brook Sarson co-owns and operates CatchingH2O, a contracting company specializing in Rainwater and Greywater Harvesting as well as Ecologically rich and drought tolerant landscaping.  She has a background in engineering and Permaculture Design.  Her goal is to enhance community resilience by empowering individuals to create decentralized water solutions throughout the county.  She has installed hundreds of thousands of gallons of rainwater collection and several hundred greywater systems. Rivera supports planning, coordinating, and implementing the SDRVC Citizen Science and Next to Nature (N2N) Programs as well as recruiting, training, and supervising SDRVC volunteers/docents. Rivera has an AA in Earth Science and Natural Science from Los Angeles Valley College and a BS from UC San Diego in Environmental Systems: Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution. Watson, Jr., MSHS, President/CEO, Global Action Research Center </strong></h3><h3>Watson is the former Executive Director of the Training and Research Institute for Residential Youth Centers in New Haven, CT and Watson and Associates International. He has a master’s degree from Springfield College. He began a consultant organization in 1998 and specialized in Community Development, Youth Development, Child Welfare, and Organizational Development. He successfully completed international projects in Central Asia (Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan), The Netherlands, Brazil, Jamaica, and Egypt. Paul has also served as faculty at Springfield College, New School of Architecture and Design, San Diego City College, and UC San Diego. Paul has won numerous awards and has published both books and articles.
